Mississippi prepares for United in Song, America250 cornerstone event
Mississippi officials and organizers are promoting United in Song as the cornerstone event of America250 Mississippi, saying it will offer residents an opportunity to gather and patriotically celebrate the country, according to a Facebook post from America250 Mississippi.
America250 is the national initiative coordinating commemorations for the U.S. Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the nation. State affiliates such as America250 Mississippi work with local partners to plan events intended to highlight history, culture and civic participation during the semiquincentennial period.
The Facebook announcement urged people to get tickets and join what organizers called a “once-in-250-year” event. The post did not list additional details about location, programming or timing.
