Mississippi Department of Public Safety celebrates America’s 250th, urges safe Fourth of July
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety celebrated America’s 250th birthday and wished residents a safe Fourth of July weekend in a social media post Friday.
The agency said in a Facebook post, “Red, white, and blue never looked better!” and added that the “MDPS family is proud to celebrate America’s 250th birthday and Independence Day,” wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday weekend. The post included hashtags referencing Mississippi, law enforcement and safe driving.
The Department of Public Safety is the state agency responsible for highway patrol, driver licensing and other public safety functions. Agencies such as MDPS typically use holiday weekends to remind motorists about safe driving and to coordinate traffic and emergency response resources.
The post serves as a seasonal reminder as many people travel and attend fireworks events. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
