Southaven bans fireworks, promotes Snowden Grove Fourth of July show

Southaven officials urged residents to have a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend while reminding them that fireworks are not permitted within city limits, the city said in a Facebook post. Instead, the post encouraged people to attend a Fireworks Extravaganza at the BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove Park on Saturday.

The reminder from the city highlights enforcement of local rules around consumer fireworks, which many municipalities restrict for safety and public-health reasons. Fireworks can pose fire hazards and cause injuries, and local governments often limit their use to organized displays.

The BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove Park offers a centralized, supervised alternative where residents can view a professional display, the post said. Snowden Grove Park is located in Southaven, Mississippi, and the amphitheater has been used for community events and performances.

City officials asked residents to follow the ordinance and consider attending the organized display as a safe alternative. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
