MEMA schedules openings, closings for disaster survivor assistance centers
Jackson, Miss. — The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post that several Disaster Survivor Assistance Centers will close and others will open next week as part of the agency’s ongoing response efforts.
The agency said centers in Attala, Lee, Marshall, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah and Union counties will close Saturday, May 9, at 2 p.m. Centers in Carroll, Coahoma, Grenada, Holmes, Montgomery, Quitman, Tallahatchie, Tunica and Yalobusha counties will open Monday, May 11, at 8 a.m. Disaster Recovery Centers in Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Leflore, Panola and Yazoo counties remain open, the post said.
Disaster Survivor Assistance Centers typically provide in-person help to residents who need to register for federal disaster aid, check application status and get information about recovery resources. Disaster Recovery Centers offer more extensive casework and access to state and federal recovery partners.
Residents seeking assistance should monitor the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency’s official channels for updates and location details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
