MEMA opens five Disaster Service Centers for Arthur victims
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said it will open five Disaster Service Centers at noon Tuesday, Aug. 18, to serve residents who suffered damage during Tropical Storm Arthur from June 18–20, 2026, under federal disaster declaration DR-4930-MS.
The centers will operate in Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River and Stone counties, MEMA said in a Facebook post. Disaster Service Centers offer in-person help for people seeking federal disaster assistance, including help completing applications and answering questions about eligibility.
MEMA coordinates state response and recovery efforts and works with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which administers federal disaster assistance programs. Residents who apply in person should bring a Social Security number, contact information, household income before taxes, damage information, insurance information and direct deposit information, MEMA said.
Individuals may also apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or by using the FEMA mobile app. The openings provide an additional option for residents who need face-to-face help navigating recovery resources. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
