Vicksburg police plan Citizens Police Academy to boost transparency
The Vicksburg Police Department said on its Facebook page that its command staff met to discuss plans for an upcoming Citizens Police Academy aimed at strengthening relationships and increasing transparency between the department and the community.
The department said the academy will offer participants an inside look at daily operations, including patrol work, investigations and specialized units, and will highlight the many ways officers serve Vicksburg residents.
Citizens Police Academies are commonly used by law enforcement agencies to increase public understanding of police procedures and to build trust through education and communication. Vicksburg is a city in Mississippi with a history of community policing efforts that departments often cite when launching outreach programs.
The Vicksburg Police Department said it will share more details soon, including how members of the community can apply to participate. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
