Gulfport police offer PS5 prize in hiring campaign

Gulfport police are urging people to apply for open positions and said the 100th person to submit an application on the day of the post would receive a PlayStation 5 purportedly signed by Abraham Lincoln.

The department said the gaming-console prize was a tongue-in-cheek promotion but emphasized the job opportunity is real. “The opportunity to wear the badge, serve your neighbors, stand beside an incredible team, and make a lasting impact in your community absolutely is,” the Facebook post said.

The post described the position as more than a job, saying recruits would build lifelong friendships, develop lasting skills and have daily opportunities to help and protect members of their community. It encouraged applicants seeking a challenging, rewarding career to apply at gulfportpolice.net.

The post included a disclaimer that the PlayStation is not actually signed by Abraham Lincoln. “Disclaimer: The Playstation is not actually signed by Abraham Lincoln. We checked,” the department wrote. Applicants can find more details at gulfportpolice.net. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
