Corporal Clarence Gibson marks 31 years with Jackson Police
Corporal Clarence Gibson is being recognized for 31 years of service with the Jackson Police Department, the department said in a post on its Facebook page. The department said Gibson spent 27.5 years assigned to Precinct 3 on the midnight shift and served the remainder of his career as a municipal court bailiff.
The midnight shift typically covers overnight patrols, emergency responses and incidents that occur outside regular business hours, a role that often requires officers to work independently and respond to a wide range of calls. Precinct assignments are a central part of local policing, helping departments maintain a visible presence in neighborhoods.
Municipal court bailiffs generally handle courtroom security, assist with the custody and transport of detainees and help maintain order during proceedings. Long tenures such as Gibson’s can provide institutional knowledge and continuity for both law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.
The department thanked Gibson for his decades of service in its post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
