STARKVILLE, Miss. — Community members will gather Friday, July 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Rick’s Cafe to raise money to support Corporal Colby Huffman, organizers said in a Facebook post.
A portion of the proceeds from pulled pork plates sold during the event will go toward Huffman’s recovery, the post said. The event will feature live music by Lee Battle, Hard Luck Trio and JD and The Muddy River Band.
Huffman, who serves with the Starkville Police Department, was injured in late February in a traffic accident while assisting in the escort of a funeral service, organizers said. The fundraiser is being held in partnership with the Del Rendon Foundation to help cover ongoing medical and travel expenses for Huffman and his family.
This community fundraiser aims to offset costs while showing public support for a local officer. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
