Organizers are asking the public to join them Friday, July 17, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rick’s Cafe as the community comes together to support Corporal Colby Huffman. The event, announced in a Facebook post, will feature pulled pork plates with a portion of proceeds from each plate directed to help Huffman’s recovery.
Corporal Colby Huffman holds the rank of corporal, a title used in military and some law enforcement organizations. The Facebook announcement did not specify the nature of Huffman’s condition or the organization sponsoring the benefit.
Community fundraisers such as this are a common way for neighbors, friends and local businesses to provide financial assistance and show support for service members and first responders during recovery. Rick’s Cafe is hosting the dinner-style event to encourage residents to attend and contribute through food purchases.
