Brothers arrested after officer-involved shooting in Mount Olive, Mississippi
Authorities located and arrested Cortavious Lawayne Hobbs and Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs early Wednesday with no further incident, a social media alert said.
The men were wanted in connection with an officer-involved shooting that occurred June 8 at about 3:38 p.m. in Mount Olive in Covington County, Mississippi, the Facebook post said. The alert identified the suspects by name and ages: Cortavious Lawayne Hobbs, 18, and Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs, 19.
The post said the brothers were believed to be armed and dangerous and could be in the area of the 200 block of South Bluff Street in Mount Olive. It described Cortavious Hobbs as a Black male, 5-foot-6, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, wearing a black hoodie. It described Cortavion Hobbs as a Black male, 5-foot-6, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair, wearing a camouflage hoodie.
The alert advised anyone who saw the men or observed suspicious activity to call 911 or contact the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at 855-642-5378, the post said. Officer-involved shootings typically prompt public safety alerts while investigators work to determine the facts surrounding the incident.
