Authorities arrest two after Mount Olive officer-involved shooting
Authorities arrested two men early June 9 after a Blue Alert sought them in connection with an officer-involved shooting the previous afternoon in Mount Olive, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said.
The bureau said at 1:20 a.m. on June 9 that Cortavious Lawayne Hobbs, 18, and Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs, 19, were located and arrested without further incident. The shooting occurred June 8 at approximately 3:38 p.m. in Mount Olive in Covington County, the bureau said in a Facebook post.
MBI initially described the brothers as believed to be armed and dangerous and said they could be in the area of the 200 block of South Bluff Street. The bureau gave physical descriptions: Cortavious Lawayne Hobbs was described as a black male, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 140 pounds, wearing a black hoodie; Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs was described as a black male, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 140 pounds, wearing a camouflage hoodie. Both were described as having brown eyes and black hair.
Blue Alert is a public safety notification system used to rapidly share information about suspects who pose a serious threat to law enforcement, officials said. Anyone with information was asked to call 911 or the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at 855-642-5378. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
