Authorities arrest two after Blue Alert in Mount Olive

Authorities say two men were located and arrested early June 9 after a Blue Alert was issued in connection with an officer-involved shooting in Mount Olive, Mississippi.

A Facebook post updating the alert at 1:20 a.m. said Cortavious Lawayne Hobbs and Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs were located and arrested “with no further incident.” The post said the alert followed a shooting that occurred June 8 at approximately 3:38 p.m. in Mount Olive, Covington County.

The original post had identified the suspects as 18-year-old Cortavious Lawayne Hobbs and 19-year-old Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs and said both were believed to be armed and dangerous. It said they could be in the area of the 200 block of South Bluff Street.

The post described Cortavious Hobbs as a black male wearing a black hoodie, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. It described Cortavion Hobbs as a black male wearing a camouflage hoodie, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. The post urged anyone who saw either man or observed suspicious activity to call 911 or contact the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation at 855-642-5378 and referenced www.p3tips.com for anonymous tips.
