19-year-old arrested in Leavell Woods Park killing
JACKSON — A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting Saturday night at Leavell Woods Park, the Jackson Police Department said Monday.
Robbery-Homicide Unit detectives identified Ladarius Evans as the suspect Sunday morning, April 26, police said. Authorities said Evans is charged with the murder of Justin Body, who was shot and killed at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the park.
Evans appeared before a municipal court judge on Monday, April 27, who set his bond at a combined $600,000, according to police. The bond includes $500,000 on the murder charge and $100,000 on a charge of tampering with evidence, police said.
Leavell Woods Park is a municipal park in Jackson. The Robbery-Homicide Unit investigates violent crimes and works with other city and county agencies on homicide cases, police said.
