Pike County Sheriff’s Office partners with community to distribute naloxone

Pike County Sheriff’s Office partnered with Summit Express Pharmacy and several local organizations on National Naloxone Awareness Day 2026 to distribute free naloxone kits and provide training to residents, the office said.

Partners at the event included Summit Express Pharmacy, Southwest Mississippi Children’s Advocacy Center, Crisis Pregnancy Center of Southwest Mississippi, radio station K106 and PALS Rescue. Organizers said the goal was to ensure Pike County residents have access to naloxone, learn how to use it and build community support in addressing the opioid crisis.

“We want to make sure that the citizens of Pike County know that we are working diligently to raise awareness of this crisis. I am proud to be able to partner with these amazing organizations,” Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones said.

Naloxone is a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose if given promptly. Officials said education, awareness and partnerships remain central to efforts to save lives and support people affected by substance use disorders. The sheriff’s office thanked volunteers and residents who attended and singled out Tim Stamps, Tara Dupree and the Summit Express Pharmacy team for hosting the event.
