The annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk/Climb in Biloxi brought together participants at Margaritaville Resort Biloxi to remember those who died on Sept. 11, 2001, and honor the sacrifices made that day.
The event also honors local firefighters and law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Organizers said people from across the Mississippi Coast, along with participants from out of state, attend to pay their respects.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
