Greenville officials and first responders gather to remember Sept. 11 victims
The City of Greenville, Greenville Fire Department, Greenville Police Department, emergency personnel and other first responders joined for a remembrance gathering honoring those who died, the heroes who responded and families affected by the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
The gathering recognized the courage of firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, first responders, military members and civilians who showed bravery during the attacks, according to a post by the Greenville Police Department.
Organizers said the event was intended as a reminder that service, sacrifice, courage and unity should not be forgotten. They also honored people who ran toward danger and remembered those who never returned home.
The post included the biblical passage, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
