Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers marked the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by remembering the innocent lives lost and honoring the first responders who ran toward danger.
The organization also recognized the courage of survivors, families and communities affected by the events, and called for the nation to remember the sacrifice, bravery and unity that emerged from the tragedy.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
