Starkville Police Department remembers Sept. 11 victims and first responders
The Starkville Police Department marked the Sept. 11 anniversary by remembering the more than 3,000 people who died in the attacks and the first responders who answered the call that day.
The department said those remembered included law enforcement officers, most of them NYPD officers, who died while serving and protecting others. It also honored NYPD officers, FDNY firefighters, EMTs, paramedics and other first responders who responded, as well as survivors who continue to live with injuries and illnesses connected to that day.
The statement said the department continues to remember the lives behind the numbers and honor the sacrifices made on Sept. 11, 2001, when the attacks began at 8:46 a.m.
