Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers members help serve first responders at 9/11 event
Three members of the Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers Board of Directors helped serve lunch to Coast first responders during an event marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
Joe Cook served members of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Bridget Turan served the Gulfport Police Department, and Lori Massey served the Ocean Springs Police and Fire Departments.
The event was held for the eighth year and served first responders from 33 departments across Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties. The nonprofit Women of Wisdom, also known as WOW, organizes the event each year.
Turan, a Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers board member, started the effort eight years ago as a way to show appreciation for people who serve and protect local communities.
The organizers described September 11 as a day to remember the courage, sacrifice and service of first responders everywhere and thanked Women of Wisdom, the volunteers and the first responders who serve the communities.
