Wind advisory issued for Lafayette County Saturday

The National Weather Service in Memphis issued a Wind Advisory for Lafayette County from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, according to Lafayette County EMA. Northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph could produce gusts up to 45 mph, potentially blowing down tree limbs and making driving harder, especially for trucks and vehicles pulling trailers.

A Flood Watch also remains in effect from 1 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, with 1.5 to 2 inches of rain expected. Residents are advised not to drive through water covering a road and to turn around instead.

Residents can secure trash cans, patio furniture and decorations, charge phones and other devices in case of a power outage, and allow extra time while driving Saturday. People should stay away from downed power lines and report them to their power company. Conditions should improve Saturday night, with drier weather Sunday.
