MEMA opens disaster service centers in five counties
Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) said Disaster Service Centers in five counties are open to serve residents affected by the May 6-7 severe storms.
The centers allow residents to meet face-to-face with recovery specialists from MEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration, MEMA said.
MEMA said the centers operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents who cannot apply in person can apply online at DisasterAssistance.gov, call 800-621-FEMA (3362) or use the free FEMA app. Applicants should use disaster number DR-4922 when applying.
MEMA is the state agency that coordinates emergency response and recovery efforts. FEMA provides federal disaster assistance and the SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to help homeowners, renters and businesses recover after declared disasters.
