MEMA opens recovery centers in several Mississippi counties
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post that Disaster Survivor Assistance teams are now open in Attala, Grenada, Holmes, Lee, Marshall, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah and Union counties.
The agency also said Disaster Recovery Centers are operating in Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Leflore, Panola and Yazoo counties. The post did not provide hours or specific locations for the centers.
Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) teams and Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are tools state and local emergency agencies use to help residents after damaging events. DSAs are mobile teams that visit communities to help residents access recovery resources and information, while DRCs offer a central location for in-person support.
MEMA, the state’s emergency management agency, coordinates disaster response and recovery efforts and often works with local and federal partners to connect people with housing, financial assistance and recovery programs. Residents in affected areas should consult MEMA’s official social media channels or website for updates on services and operating hours.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
