Gulfport Police praise participants, instructor after women’s self-defense class
The Gulfport Police Department congratulated participants and organizers of a women’s self-defense class in a Facebook post, saying the event helped attendees learn valuable techniques, boost confidence and take proactive steps toward personal safety.
The department singled out instructor Emma Baptiste, saying her professionalism, passion and expertise made a lasting impact and helped make the event a success. The post also thanked volunteers who worked behind the scenes and encouraged more community members to attend future events.
Community self-defense classes are commonly offered by law enforcement agencies and community organizations to teach basic safety skills, situational awareness and strategies for reducing vulnerability. Advocates say such programs can increase confidence and preparedness among participants.
The department did not provide additional details in its post about the date, location or number of attendees. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
