Hinds County deputies urge public to donate blood
Hinds County Sheriff’s Office officials urged residents to consider donating blood in a social media post, saying serving and protecting the community can include giving life-saving donations.
“There’s more than one way to give back to your community. Serving and protecting is one way, but donating blood is another way to help save lives. A single donation can make a difference for someone in need. If you’re able, consider donating,” HCSO Sgt. Syrone Trotter said in the Facebook post, which referenced Mississippi Blood Services and included the hashtag #DonateBlood.
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Mississippi’s most populous county and often communicates public-safety messages to residents through its social channels. Mississippi Blood Services is a regional blood center that coordinates donations and supplies blood to hospitals across the state.
Blood donations are routinely used for trauma care, surgical procedures and treatment for chronic illnesses, and agencies and community organizations frequently urge donations when supplies are low or when demand rises. The sheriff’s office message highlights donation as an additional way public servants and residents can support community health.
