William Carey cross-country teams place fifth and 20th at Southern Showcase
The William Carey women's cross-country team finished fifth and the men's team placed 20th at the Southern Showcase hosted by Jacksonville State University in Huntsville, Alabama.
Kristina Stojanovic led the women's team in the 5K, finishing 14th in 19:26. Sydney Moudy placed 29th in 20:09, followed by Virginia Tirado in 36th at 20:35.
Hannah Mitchell, Maria Tirado and Macy Robertson completed the women's scoring group with times of 21:07, 21:14 and 21:18, respectively.
Matthew McGuire paced the men's team in the 8K, taking 13th place in 26:13. Luke Skinner finished 22nd in 26:40.
Niklas Moilanen finished in 30:02, Nate Beard crossed in 30:30 and Julius Giller completed the race in 31:29.
Both teams are scheduled to return to competition Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Firehawk Invitational in Oakville, Alabama.
