Millsaps cross country competes at Southern Showcase

The Millsaps men's and women's cross country teams competed in the open races at the Southern Showcase at the John Hunt Cross Country Course in Huntsville, Alabama. Junior Greer Hernandez led the men's race for Millsaps, placing 14th among 239 finishers in 26 minutes, 15.6 seconds over eight kilometers.

Dallas Stricker made his season debut in 28:59.5, placing 112th. Benjamin Sylve was 155th in 30:01.8, while Mason Castleberry, also making his season debut, placed 162nd in 30:18.5. Ethan Hall finished 192nd in 32:06.0, followed by R.T. Tate in 193rd at 32:08.1 and Phillip Antis in 197th at 32:40.7.

Kameron Willson placed 206th in 33:35.3, Jonathan Brister was 208th in 33:45.2, Om Patel finished 220th in 35:33.2, and Damaurien Graves placed 230th in 39:31.7.

Lila Jane Sekinger led the Millsaps women with a six-kilometer time of 24:22.7, placing 142nd. Marlina Jones finished 155th in 26:14.4, followed by Claudia Dempsey in 157th at 26:16.3. Caitlyn Bounds placed 160th in 26:33.9, and Myla Walker was 176th in 29:26.7.

The Millsaps men's and women's teams will compete next at the Mountain Goat Invitational in Sewanee, Tennessee, on Saturday, Oct. 3, beginning at 9 a.m.
