Toppers end historic season in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City — Blue Mountain Christian University said Tuesday the Toppers closed a historic 2026 season in Oklahoma City after earning the program’s first-ever NAIA National Opening Round victory and later falling in a tightly contested pitcher’s duel against top-seeded Oklahoma City University.

The victory in the opening round marked a milestone for the Blue Mountain Christian program, which competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and represents Blue Mountain, Mississippi. The team’s performance earned praise from coaches and supporters and capped a season of program-first accomplishments, the school said.

Oklahoma City University entered the matchup as the top seed in the bracket and has been a frequent contender at the NAIA national tournament. The closing game was described by Blue Mountain Christian as a pitcher’s duel, underscoring the strong pitching and defense on both sides that decided the contest.

The result brings a close to a breakthrough season for the Toppers and could serve as a building block for the program as it prepares for recruiting and the 2027 campaign. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
