Millsaps, Belhaven to co-host volleyball invitational at Hangar Dome
Millsaps College and Belhaven University will co-host their annual volleyball invitational at the Hangar Dome, with Millsaps scheduled to play four matches against Centenary, Principia, LeTourneau and Huntingdon. The Majors enter the event with a 3-2 regular-season record.
Millsaps will face Centenary at 4 p.m. and Principia at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Majors will play LeTourneau at 10 a.m. and Huntingdon at 4 p.m. Live statistics will be available, and the matches will be streamed via FloCollege.
Millsaps opened the season with a 3-0 win at Belhaven on Sept. 1. The Majors later defeated Alverno College 3-1 and swept Texas Lutheran University 3-0 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Tournament. Freshman Khloe Duncan leads Millsaps with 61 kills and 161 total attacks, while sophomore Madelynn Sasser has 41 kills and 12 digs.
Belhaven sophomore Tarryn Woodall, recently named C Spire Athlete of the Week, has 63 kills, 41 digs and three blocks in five starts. Her classmate Maggie Joy Tomlin, named the Collegiate Conference of the South Setter of the Week on Sept. 8, has 132 assists, 45 digs and five kills.
Centenary freshman Danielle Primavera leads the Ladies with 14 kills, while junior Syndel Pena has seven digs and three total blocks. Huntingdon senior Destin Roberts has a team-high 39 assists, and Salome De Jesus and Morgan Suggs are tied with 19 total kills each.
LeTourneau junior Ashlyn Walther leads the Yellowjackets with 17 total blocks, while sophomore Hailee Perry has 79 assists. Principia freshman Kaleigh Klouzek leads the Panthers with 33 digs and 19 assists, and senior Dana Galinis has five total blocks.
Oglethorpe enters the invitational with a 2-2 record after a 3-1 win over Piedmont and a 3-0 sweep of Huntingdon. Freshman Jane Pennington leads the Stormy Petrels with 35 kills, junior Lauryn Frazier has 67 assists and Madison Thompson has 10 total blocks.
