Southern Miss volleyball to host four-team invitational in Hattiesburg

Southern Miss, 4-1, will host the Southern Miss Invitational from Sept. 10-12 at the Southern Miss Wellness Center in Hattiesburg. The Golden Eagles will play four matches during the event.

Southern Miss opens against Houston Christian, 1-5, at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday and plays Lamar, 0-6, at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The Golden Eagles face Southern, 1-3, at noon Saturday before closing the invitational against Jackson State, 3-4, at 5 p.m.

The other matches are Lamar vs. Southern at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jackson State vs. Houston Christian at 1 p.m. Friday, Southern vs. Houston Christian at 4 p.m. Friday and Lamar vs. Jackson State at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Senior setter Allie Hazelwood leads the Sun Belt with 10.61 assists per set, while senior outside hitter Sadie McAda is coming off a week in which she led the conference with 4.71 kills per set. Southern Miss also led the conference in digs per set a week ago with 16.71.

Southern Miss split two matches at last weekend’s Rebel Volleyball Classic in Oxford, sweeping Central Arkansas 3-0 before losing to host Ole Miss 3-1.

All four Southern Miss matches will be streamed on ESPN+, with live statistics available through StatBroadcast.
