Jackson State teams set for week of competition across five sports
Seven Jackson State sports programs are scheduled to compete during the week beginning Monday, with events in Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Micaiah Joubert will represent Jackson State individually at the Jack T. Stephens Cup at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas. The women's golf event is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, with match play on Wednesday, against some of the nation's best. The men's golf team will compete Monday at the Magicians on the Green at the Links at Pine Hill in Memphis, Tennessee, returning to the course for the second time in as many weeks.
Jackson State's men's and women's tennis teams begin the HBCU National Championships Thursday at the South Fulton Tennis Center in Atlanta. Both teams continue play Friday and Saturday before wrapping up the event Sunday. The women's team is defending its HBCU National Championship.
Volleyball opens the Ragin' Cajuns Classic in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Friday against UT-Arlington at 11 a.m. and Mississippi State at 2:30 p.m. The Tigers then face Louisiana Saturday at 2 p.m.
Soccer returns home Friday against Austin Peay at 3 p.m. in Jackson, Mississippi, before hosting Middle Tennessee Sunday at 1 p.m. Football also returns home Saturday at 6 p.m. against Tuskegee in the W.C. Gorden Classic. The game follows a bye week and is the second of three consecutive home games.
