Blue Mountain Christian women’s golf finishes sixth at Carey Collegiate

Blue Mountain Christian women’s golf finished sixth after completing three rounds at the Carey Collegiate at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg. The Toppers’ best team round was a 322 in the second round, followed by a 325 in the final round.

Ansley Pratt led Blue Mountain Christian, finishing 18th overall with a 237, or 21 over par, after rounds of 79, 78 and 80. Her second-round 78 was her lowest score of the tournament.

Giuliana Frutos finished with a 248 (+32) after rounds of 84, 79 and 85. Morgan Dabbs posted progressively lower scores of 87, 82 and 81 to finish at 250 (+34). Kayla Shaull closed with a 79 after rounds of 84 and 88, finishing at 251 (+35).

Abby Gattis contributed rounds of 87 and 83 during the opening two rounds. Competing individually, Erin Porter recorded one of the team’s lowest rounds with a second-round 77 and finished at 244 (+28) after rounds of 82, 77 and 85. Abby Moore, also competing individually, recorded rounds of 100, 86 and 91.

“We had several good individual rounds throughout the tournament, and I was pleased with the way our team continued to compete over all three rounds,” Blue Mountain Christian head coach Kevin Barefield said. “We saw some encouraging things that we can take with us as we continue through the fall season.”
