Blue Mountain Christian men’s golf finishes fifth at Invite at Innisbrook

Blue Mountain Christian University’s men’s golf team finished fifth among 20 teams at The Invite at Innisbrook at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Florida. The Toppers posted rounds of 294, 294 and 296 for a three-round score of 884 on the par-71, 7,209-yard course.

The tournament field included 11 teams ranked in the NAIA Top 25, including five ranked in the top 10. Blue Mountain Christian finished ahead of six nationally ranked programs, including Dalton State, Science & Arts, Grand View, William Carey and Southeastern.

Alex Nordstrom led the Toppers, tying for 10th individually at 217. He opened with a 2-under 69, the team’s lowest round of the tournament, followed by rounds of 73 and 75.

Agustin Frutos tied for 19th at 222 after rounds of 77, 74 and 71. Axel Houdaille tied for 22nd at 223 with rounds of 76, 73 and 74, while Cobey Riddle tied for 29th at 224 after recording rounds of 73, 75 and 76. Ayers Mathis tied for 68th at 229.

Adrian Perez competed as an individual and tied for 41st at 226 after rounds of 75, 73 and 78.

No. 1 Keiser won the team championship with a score of 861. Reinhardt finished second at 869, Coastal Georgia was third at 878 and Webber International placed fourth at 881, three strokes ahead of Blue Mountain Christian.
