President Donald J. Trump has approved a Major Disaster Declaration, FEMA-4930-DR-MS, for counties in Mississippi affected by Tropical Storm Arthur on June 18-20, 2026, a Facebook post said.
The post said individual assistance was approved for Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River and Stone counties. Individual Assistance may include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-interest loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs designed to help people recover from disaster impacts.
Public assistance was approved for Covington, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, Stone and Wayne counties, the post said. Public Assistance provides grants to local governments and certain nonprofit organizations for debris removal, emergency protective measures and the restoration of damaged public infrastructure.
The Facebook post expressed gratitude to the president and his administration and said the declaration will strengthen recovery efforts and deliver additional support to Mississippians. It added that the state will continue to assist affected communities and said, “We continue praying for every community impacted.” This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
