Volunteers clean Vicksburg
Volunteers including Alderwoman Vicky Bailey, Officer Michael Battle and students from River City Early College, Vicksburg High School and Warren Central High School spent the day cleaning Vicksburg, Mississippi, the Vicksburg Police Department said in a Facebook post.
The department quoted the post’s opening line, “It’s a Great Day to Keep Vicksburg Clean!” and said the participants worked together to help keep the city “clean and beautiful for everyone who calls our city home.”
The Facebook post thanked every volunteer for their service and said the effort reflected “the heart of Vicksburg” and the value of community pride and teamwork. Community cleanups such as this typically involve picking up litter and improving public spaces and are a common way local governments, schools and residents partner on neighborhood upkeep.
The Vicksburg Police Department said the volunteers’ efforts “did not go unnoticed” and expressed appreciation for those who participated. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
