Traffic delays hit Friars Point Road near Coahoma Community College

Coahoma Community College is warning drivers to expect delays on Friars Point Road today because of graduation ceremonies, the college said in a Facebook post. Traffic may be heavier from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and again from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the post said.

The college, a two-year community institution that serves students in the surrounding region, holds commencement events that typically draw graduates, family members and community guests. Those ceremonies can increase vehicle and pedestrian activity near campus and along nearby roadways.

Motorists traveling near the campus should allow extra time or consider alternate routes during the noted times to avoid delays, the post advised. Local residents and businesses may also experience increased traffic and limited parking during the ceremonies.

This is a brief advisory based on the college’s social media post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
