Visitor pursuing 1,000-officer goal visits Mississippi Department of Public Safety

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post that a visitor identified as Mr. Slater stopped by agency headquarters as he continues working toward his goal of meeting 1,000 law enforcement officers.

During the visit, the agency said, Mr. Slater played hide-and-seek with K-9 Diesel, met several officers and added new patches to his collection. The post described the visit as “special” and thanked him for stopping by.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety oversees state law enforcement programs, including the Mississippi Highway Patrol and other public safety services, and operates K-9 teams that support patrol and public outreach. Visits by members of the public and collectors can serve as community-engagement opportunities and help humanize first responders.

The agency included hashtags referencing Mississippi, public safety and law enforcement in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
