Vicksburg police meet with leaders to strengthen community partnerships

The Vicksburg Police Department said last week it met with local business leaders, the city attorney, Byram Police Chief Kevin Turner, Mayor Willis Thompson, representatives of the Vicksburg Housing Authority and Alderman T.J. Mayfield to discuss collaboration and ways to move the city forward.

The department provided the information in a post on its official Facebook page, saying the conversations were productive and centered on strengthening relationships and finding new ways to advance the community.

Vicksburg is a city in western Mississippi on the Mississippi River. Municipal police departments often work with elected officials, neighboring agencies and housing authorities to coordinate public safety, economic development and community outreach efforts. Officials say such meetings can help improve information sharing, address neighborhood concerns and align resources across jurisdictions.

The Vicksburg Police Department said it is looking ahead “with excitement and purpose” and remains committed to working together to build a safer, stronger and more vibrant Vicksburg. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
