Hinds County sheriff, Terry police strengthen community ties
Residents from several Terry communities met yesterday evening to discuss public safety, communication and information sharing, the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. The meeting aimed to keep Terry, Mississippi, a safe and connected town for its citizens, the post said.
Sheriff Jones highlighted key state laws and emphasized collaboration between the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Anthony Moore and the Terry Police Department, the post added. Residents were encouraged to stay informed through the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office mobile app and to join the upcoming Sheriff’s Citizens Academy.
The Sheriff’s Citizens Academy is a common community outreach program that provides residents with an overview of local law enforcement operations and opportunities to engage directly with officers, advocates say. Such programs are used nationwide to build understanding and trust between police and the communities they serve.
The sheriff’s office thanked hosts and facilitators who organized the meeting and said it will continue outreach across Terry. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
