Vicksburg police investigate shooting that injures three

Vicksburg police are investigating a shooting that wounded three people Tuesday evening at the Waltersville Estates apartment complex, the Vicksburg Police Department said.

Officers responded about 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 18, 2026, and located 15-year-old Anthony Nash suffering from a gunshot wound, the department said. Nash was taken to Merit Health River Region for treatment.

While officers were investigating, they were notified that 19-year-old Jayden Bailey had arrived at Merit Health River Region with a gunshot wound. The department said a second 15-year-old, Davonte Thigpen Jr., also sustained a gunshot wound and was receiving treatment at the same hospital. The conditions of all three individuals are unknown, the post said.

Preliminary information from the department indicates the shooting may have stemmed from an ongoing dispute involving the three individuals. The circumstances remain under investigation, and the Vicksburg Police Department said it will release additional information as it becomes available.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
