VICKSBURG, Mississippi — The Vicksburg Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that left a 14-year-old boy dead early Thursday, according to a department release posted on Facebook.
Officers responded about 4:30 a.m. Thursday to the 400 block of Farmer Street on a report of a shooting and found the juvenile with a gunshot wound to the head, the release said. He was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment, and AirCare was requested because of the severity of his injuries. While being transported, the 14-year-old succumbed to his wounds.
Investigators are processing evidence, conducting interviews and working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the department said. Authorities urged anyone with information to contact the Vicksburg Police Department at (601) 636-2511 or Crime Stoppers at (601) 355-TIPS (8477).
