Jackson Police Department officers responded Thursday, May 21, 2026, at approximately 2:19 p.m. to the 1300 block of Perkins Street and found a deceased Black man inside a residence, the department said in a Facebook post.
Authorities identified the victim as 46-year-old Shondell Latress White. Robbery/homicide detectives, the department’s Mobile Crime Unit, AMR and the Hinds County coroner were dispatched to the scene, and the coroner took possession of the body, the post said. Next of kin have been notified.
Police said White is believed to have succumbed to a single gunshot wound. The department said it currently has no information regarding a motive or suspects in the case and called the matter an ongoing investigation.
