Vicksburg Police Department opens citizens academy enrollment
The Vicksburg Police Department is inviting residents to take part in its Citizens Academy, with applications due Aug. 21, 2026, the department said in a Facebook reel.
Applicants may pick up a form at the Vicksburg Police Department or request one by emailing jjackson@vicksburg.org. Completed applications may be returned in person to the department or submitted by email to the same address, the department said.
Citizens academies are commonly used by law enforcement agencies to give residents a behind-the-scenes look at policing practices, department operations and community programs. Organizers say such programs aim to improve transparency, foster dialogue and give residents firsthand understanding of the challenges officers face.
The department encouraged viewers to watch the accompanying video and submit applications before the deadline. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
