Deputies complete Crisis Intervention Team training

Six deputies completed Crisis Intervention Team training this afternoon, a Facebook post said. The graduates listed in the post were Deputy Dimming, Deputy Hodge, Deputy Bell, Sgt. White, Deputy Pearson and Deputy Anderson.

The post said the training is a 40-hour specialized program that equips law enforcement officers with knowledge and skills to respond safely and effectively to individuals experiencing mental health, substance use or emotional crises.

The post said the course is taught in partnership with mental health professionals and community service providers and covers crisis de-escalation techniques, communication strategies, suicide intervention and how to connect people with appropriate resources and treatment.

The Facebook post said the training helps strengthen public safety, reduce stigma surrounding mental illness and improve outcomes for both officers and the citizens they serve. The post also said the agency is proud of the graduates for their commitment to continuing education and serving the community with professionalism, compassion and understanding.
