Starkville man faces aggravated assault charge after alleged strangling

STARKVILLE, Miss. — A 21-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police say he strangled a woman at an apartment complex.

The Starkville Police Department said officers responded at 12:03 p.m. June 30 to Collegiate Heights Apartments, 201 Lynn Lane, for a report of an unwanted person who refused to leave. Officers located Cardell Clark Jr., 21, of Starkville, at a nearby gas station and arrested him on a charge of domestic violence — aggravated assault, the department said.

The department said Clark allegedly strangled a female victim at the apartment before officers arrived. He was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail, the department said.
