Tippah County Lake reopens for fishing, boating after storm cleanup
TIPPAH COUNTY, Mississippi — Tippah County Lake in Ripley will reopen Saturday, May 30, for fishing and boating, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks said Friday.
MDWFP said crews have worked to clean and restore the area after damage from Winter Storm Fern in January. The lake had been closed temporarily while crews removed storm debris and completed cleanup operations.
While fishing and boating will resume Saturday, the department said the campground at Tippah County Lake will remain closed as repairs and additional debris removal continue. MDWFP said it will notify the public when the campground reopens and urged visitors to check conditions before traveling.
MDWFP manages the state’s wildlife, fisheries and parks and posts park updates and safety information at mdwfp.com. Reopening the lake restores recreational access for anglers and boaters who use the site for outdoor recreation. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
