State office highlights Technical Assistance Division interns

A state office highlighted its Technical Assistance Division interns in a Facebook post, saying the law students are drafting legal memoranda to help state employees use budgets more efficiently and improve transparency in Mississippi.

The post said the interns are tasked with a range of responsibilities, including answering purchasing questions from county and city employees and reviewing contracts that the office says will contribute to a more transparent state government.

The program gives law students practical experience with legal research and government operations, the post said. Internships of this type are often used by state agencies to supplement staff capacity while providing students with hands-on training in public-sector law, procurement and fiscal management.

Pictured in the post from left to right are Laine Donald, Anna Hudson and Tripp Cory. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
