STARKVILLE, Mississippi — Starkville Police Department said on Facebook that officers will direct traffic after the local fireworks show as residents prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
The department, which provides law enforcement and public safety services for the city of Starkville, said the traffic direction is intended to help people exit the event safely. The post thanked the public for patience and cooperation.
Traffic control at large community events is a common police task aimed at reducing congestion, protecting pedestrians and preventing crashes. Drivers and pedestrians should follow officers’ directions, allow extra travel time and exercise caution near event routes.
