Southern Pines hosts free feline vaccination clinic in Hattiesburg
HATTIESBURG — Southern Pines Animal Shelter will host a free feline vaccination clinic Friday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic, 1304 Hardy St., the shelter said.
The clinic will provide two free vaccines for cats, including the HCP feline vaccine, which Southern Pines said protects against panleukopenia and is being provided through Petco Love, and rabies vaccines required under Mississippi law.
To qualify, Southern Pines said cats must be at least 6 weeks old, healthy and comfortable being handled. All cats must be brought in secure carriers. Walk-ins will be accepted, but appointments are encouraged; pet owners can schedule online at the Southern Pines Healthy Pet Clinic website by selecting “Feline Vaccine Event,” the shelter said.
The clinic also will offer eligible cats the opportunity to participate in a 21-day research study examining the safety of a new vaccine. Southern Pines said cats enrolled in the study will receive a free wellness package upon completion.
Southern Pines said the Healthy Pet Clinic opened in 2009 and has altered more than 84,000 pets as part of efforts to address pet overpopulation in the Pine Belt. The clinic provides low-cost veterinary services and surgeries and is open Monday through Saturday. For more information, email [email protected] or call 601-544-5678.
