Police arrest four women after drug search near churches in Greenville

GREENVILLE, Miss. — Greenville police arrested four women Friday after executing a court-authorized search warrant as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, the Greenville Police Department said.

Officers from the department’s Special Response Team and Special Operations Unit carried out the warrant around 8:37 a.m. May 15 at a residence on Wallstreet Lane, the department said. Officers announced their presence but said they received no response before entering the home.

Police said they safely detained four adult women while securing the residence and conducting a search. Investigators recovered suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, syringes, digital scales, packaging materials and other items commonly associated with illegal narcotics activity.

Authorities identified the defendants as Tia Spencer, who was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and Marsha Reid, Tammie Smith and Amanda Manning, who were each charged with enhanced possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigators said the residence was within 1,000 feet of active churches, resulting in enhanced charges under Mississippi narcotics laws.

All four were taken to the Greenville Police Department for processing. The investigation remains active and additional charges or arrests may follow. Anyone with information about illegal drug activity is asked to contact the Greenville Police Department or local Crime Stoppers. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
